Join Water Corporation as a Trainee Civil Operator in Newman and play a vital role in maintaining the water and wastewater services that keep local communities thriving. About The Role

  • Maintain and repair water and wastewater infrastructure, including fixing water leaks and maintaining sites and grounds
  • Use a range of hand and power tools and small plant equipment
  • Collect water samples and carry out routine operational checks to help maintain water quality
  • Work closely with experienced team members, following instructions and learning industry best practice
  • Assist in maintaining sewer systems and wastewater networks as part of essential community services
  • Perform practical, hands-on work, similar to plumbing, working on larger-scale pipes and infrastructure that service entire communities
  • Complete a nationally recognised Certificate II in Water Industry Operations (1 year), then the potential opportunity to continue for a 2nd year with your Certificate III - all paid for by us!
  • Attend training courses and development activities, which may occasionally require travel and overnight stays outside Newman

For this role, we are looking at great talent with:

  • You will have great ability to learn as you will be learning through both on the job, so you need great listening skills, and in the classroom
  • You will have experience working on Technical Systems so you will be ‘tech savvy’
  • You enjoy working on country, being outdoors and able to adapt to covering a multitude of sites
  • Hold a current WA ‘C Class’ Drivers Licence
  • Strong Awareness of Safety and a commitment to working safely
  • Enjoy working with your hands – some work involves heavy manual tasks, precision work in a workshop or field environments, and some handling of dangerous goods – Don’t worry, you’ll get all the training you need to keep safe
  • Positive can-do attitude will see you do well
