Director of Business Development and Marketing

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development & Marketing provides strategic leadership for the organization's growth initiatives by developing and executing business development, physician outreach, employer relations, marketing, communications, and community engagement strategies. This position is responsible for strengthening Watauga Orthopaedics' market presence, expanding referral relationships, identifying new business opportunities, supporting physician recruitment, and enhancing the organization's reputation throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

· Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in business development, marketing, physician relations, or healthcare administration.

· Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.

· Demonstrated success leading organizational growth initiatives.

· Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

· Excellent analytical and financial skills.

Preferred

· Orthopaedic or physician practice experience.

· Experience with physician recruitment and referral development.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Business Development

· Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives aligned with organizational goals.

· Identify opportunities for new service lines, satellite clinics, partnerships, and geographic expansion.

· Build relationships with employers, referring providers, healthcare organizations, schools, athletic programs, and community leaders.

· Lead outreach efforts that increase referrals and market share.

· Support physician recruitment through community integration and practice marketing.

· Evaluate market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats.

Marketing & Brand Leadership

· Develop and oversee the organization's annual marketing strategy and budget.

· Ensure consistent branding across all locations, platforms, and communications.

· Direct digital marketing, website strategy, social media, advertising, and public relations.

· Oversee production of marketing materials and campaigns.

Community Relations

· Develop strategic sponsorships and partnerships.

· Represent Watauga Orthopaedics at community events, business organizations, schools, and healthcare functions.

· Coordinate physician speaking opportunities and educational events.

· Strengthen relationships with athletic programs and community organizations.

· Measure ROI on all marketing initiatives using defined performance metrics.

Physician & Referral Development

· Build relationships with referring providers.

· Coordinate referral development initiatives.

· Analyze referral patterns and recommend strategies for growth.

· Support physician onboarding and promotion

Communications

· Oversee internal and external communications.

· Manage media relations.

· Coordinate crisis communication when necessary.

· Ensure consistent messaging throughout the organization

Reporting Relationship

The Director of Business Development & Marketing reports to the CEO.
