Watauga County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Detention Officer/Jailer. Duties include maintaining jail security, processing and releasing inmates, serving meals and transporting inmates. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school is required. Preference may be given to female applicants in order to comply with NC Administrative Code 10A NCAC 14J .0601, under the authority of G.S. 153A-221. County benefit package includes health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
