Job Overview
We are seeking a full‑time Railroad Yard Worker to join our team in Denver, CO. This position plays a vital role in the safe and efficient operation of yard activities, including sorting and organizing rail cars, coupling and uncoupling cars, scaling trucks, and assisting with freight handling. The Railroad Yard Worker will be responsible for inspecting equipment, operating switches and signals, and maintaining a clean, organized yard environment. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires coordination with other yard personnel and train crews to ensure smooth operations. Additional responsibilities include operating forklifts, supporting operators with various tasks, and assisting with special projects as assigned by management.

Essential Job Functions
- Sort and organize rail cars to ensure efficient yard operations.
- Couple and uncouple rail cars safely and accurately.
- Scale trucks in and out of the yard.
- Inspect equipment regularly to identify safety or maintenance issues.
- Operate switches and signals to direct rail traffic.
- Communicate directions and operational needs clearly with yard personnel and train crews.
- Assist in loading and unloading freight as required.
- Operate forklifts when needed (prior experience is a plus).
- Enforce proper housekeeping practices and maintain a clean, organized yard free from debris, spills, and waste.
- Support operators with various tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
- May require occasional overtime, weekends or holiday shifts as dictated by business needs
What You Need:
- High school diploma or GED required, previous relevant experience may replace educational requirements.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Must be self‑motivated, dependable, and hard‑working.
- Ability to remain focused and avoid distractions during working hours (e.g., refrain from cell phone use).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs multiple times per day, with or without accommodation.
- Must successfully pass background check and drug screening criteria.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
