What You’ll Do
As a Tech A, you will perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance across a wide range of fleet vehicles:
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural systems
- Perform engine, transmission, drivetrain, brake, and suspension diagnostics and repairs
- Service and maintain Mack, International, Autocar, Heil, McNeilus, and other refuse equipment
- Use electronic diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot system failures
- Complete repairs using factory service manuals and established procedures
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Maintain accurate and timely repair documentation and work records
- Support, guide, and collaborate with other technicians to ensure efficient shop operations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Demonstrate strong ethics, reliability, and professional standards
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with medium- and heavy-duty trucks (Class 8 preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills across:
- Engines
- Transmissions
- Drivetrain systems
- Electrical and hydraulic systems
- Experience with refuse or vocational trucks preferred
- Ability to assess structural damage and determine repair needs
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools and maintenance software (e.g., fleet systems, Microsoft Office)
- Ability to mentor and support junior technicians
- Strong understanding of OSHA and fleet safety standards
- CDL Class B preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to earn 7 ASE certifications within 36 months (or equivalent experience)

Physical demands include:
- Entering and exiting a commercial vehicle cab 50–100 times per day
- Lifting requirements:
- Up to 75 lbs from floor to waist height unassisted
- Up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder height unassisted
- Up to 50 lbs overhead unassisted
- Pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Performing repetitive movements 100–200 times per day, including:
- Bending at the knees and waist
- Reaching overhead or outward with extended arms
- Twisting at the waist
- Working in outdoor environments and extreme weather conditions, including field and road call situations
Work Environment
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Regular exposure to weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental elements
