What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipment Operator position at Waste Connections?
We are currently seeking experienced safety-consciousEquipment Operatorto join the team atour Canton Transfer Station, Canton TX. Previous landfill or waste experience would be a hugeplus, but willing to train the right candidate.
The position is a Day Shift working Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays working 45-55 hours a week.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform Maintenance around the site and facilities as needed
Operating Dozers, Excavators, Compactors, along with trucks and smaller Equipment
Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
Customer Serviceand must be able to communicate with your team
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The work environment is an outdoor landfill setting. The employee will work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Areas are clean, ventilated, and well lit.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience driving forklift,dozer, or articulateddump truckpreferred
Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment used at facility
Must become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
Able to work outside in all weather conditions
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. repeatedly
