JOB SUMMARY
The Truck Driver (Water Truck) is responsible for safely operating the water truck and transporting water from the source to a location while complying with all DOT regulations and company policies in an accurate and timely manner. The Truck Driver (Water Truck) reports to the Logistics Coordinator.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs all required DOT inspections of vehicle
- Operate trucks equipped with sprinkling attachments or auxiliary pumps to distribute water effectively
- Safely hooks up and disconnects trailers as required
- Properly lift and maneuver hoses on and off the truck to load and unload water
- Ability to safely drive through all weather, road and traffic conditions
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards
- Safely drive water truck for dust suppression and other site-specific needs
- Responsible for the condition of vehicle; for example, keeps truck clean and in good working order
- Driver must always be in DOT Compliance and must maintain a clean driving record
- Participate in and submit supporting documentation such as a Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Incident Reports, etc. as required
- Report mechanical issues promptly and maintain clear communication with supervisors and team members
- Perform manual labor in other work areas when there is not a need for water truck operations as deemed by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Two (2) years relevant experience as a water or dump truck driver
- 23 years of age to meet insurance requirements
- Must be able to drive a manual shift
- Ability to work independently or with a team
- Must have strong oral communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with team members
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires constant (70-100%) sitting, occasional (40-69%), lifting up to 25lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, use hands to finger, hearing (listening) and observing (vision). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust and focus. This position is subject to onsite hazards including but not limited to moving industrial equipment, hazardous energies (LOTO), climbing ladders, working at heights, working on uneven or unimproved surfaces and areas of high noise levels, etc. Candidate shall be able to be medically qualified by a DOT (FMCSA) physical.
