IT TECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under supervision of an IT Coordinator, assists Information technology staff in a variety of technical duties that require basic entry level experience in Information Technology, with an emphasis on equipment and software setup. Perform related work as required.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists technology staff in a variety of technology related issues and activities; assists in setup of new equipment consisting of both hardware and software; assists in all aspects of the refresh process to include delivery, setup of new equipment and the disposal of e-waste equipment. This position will act as a resource to the Asset Management Coordinator in the stocking of IT product, and the inventory of IT systems and peripherals. This position will also cover for the helpdesk during vacations and high volume periods.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education/Experience: Any experience equivalent to education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
1. Education: Equivalent to a high school diploma. Some education (i.e., college coursework, workshops, seminars, etc.) in the area of computer operations is desirable;
AND
2. Experience: One (1) year of experience in the area of computer support involving the setup and operation of computer equipment, printers, projects, and other IT related equipment.
Knowledge of: Basic computer platforms and configuration, including peripherals and accessories; district desktop equipment standards; computer operating systems and configuration; vendor-level equipment repair procedures; and knowledge of excellent customer service practices
Skill at: Effective communication skills; critical reasoning/thinking; ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings; safe lifting techniques and ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds; ability to resolve routine desktop support issues and problems; and ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner, work effectively with others and documentation of time and activities
Licenses/Certifications: Possession of an A Certification is desirable.

Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position. View salary schedules here
The is a 40 hours a week, 260 day position.

Temporary employees working less than 6 months do not receive benefits.
New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
