Rehabilitation-Occupational Therapist (Outpatient) - Per Diem*
*IMPORTANT NOTE: In lieu of benefits due to "per diem" status, 15% will be added to the hourly rate. Per diem employees are offered work on an "as-needed" basis.**
POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy. Facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for activity performance or adaptation, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Graduate from accredited University of Occupational Therapy Program.
License Required:
- Licensed and registered with the State of Nevada and NBCOT.
Certificate Required:
- Maintains Current American Heart Association BLS certification and continuing education required by Nevada State Board.
Minimum Work Experience:
- Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
- A minimum of one year of experience preferred.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Treatment Plan
- Evaluates and develops treatment plan for each new patient in a timely manner, within twenty-four hours (Pediatric-geriatric patients).
- Complies with appropriate paperwork requested by Medicare, Medicaid, Worker's Comp. and Private Insurance.
- Able to use EMR/EPIC for acute and outpatient care documentation.
Therapy
- Directs and assists patients in exercises (active, passive, assisted, muscle re-education), functional training and other forms of therapy.
- Demonstrates ability to monitor and revise patient's rehab program.
- Develops home exercise programs.
- Performs treatment programs in accordance with post-operative rehab protocols.
- Performs ADL self-care and cognitive treatments.
- Performs hand therapy, manual therapy and basic elbow, wrist, finger splinting.
- Provides coverage for acute care evaluations and treatments as needed.
Delegate/Flexibility
- Demonstrates the ability to delegate parts of treatment programs to the rehab technicians when available.
- Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling according to the needs of the department and patient load.
Patient Activity Program
- Responsible for supervision and management of the Swing Bed Rehabilitation activity program if acute occupational therapy staff is unavailable
Documentation
- Maintains appropriate documentation of initial evaluations, daily treatment, progress notes and outcomes assessments
