What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer position at Washington Street Properties?
Keep exterior and common areas of residential and/or commercial properties in clean and orderly condition, in order to ensure a safe and attractive environment for tenants, visitors and staff. Perform basic janitorial and grounds maintenance work, including painting, basic carpentry, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and routine general maintenance tasks.
Under the direction of the supervisor or manager:
- Pick up and deliver inventory orders from local vendors.
- Inspect grounds for debris, gather and empty trash.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
- Vacuum and/or shampoo carpets.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Inform management of any supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
- Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways ,or parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals.
- Mow or trim lawns or shrubbery, using mowers or hand or power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds.
- Weed, mulch, plant, and otherwise maintain landscaped areas in good condition.
- Provide excellent customer service for commercial and/or residential tenants.
- Full residential or commercial unit cleaning.
- Special projects and other miscellaneous duties as may be assigned.
