Description

At Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility in beautiful Burien, Washington, our team works to serve youth ages 13 to 17 who have co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities . Facility staff work alongside youth, empowering them to learn self-care skills so that they can thrive.

In this job as a Psychologist 4, you will be our subject matter expert in psychological services providing clinical consultation and monitoring performance standards to ensure quality care. You'll also enjoy the leadership aspect of your job providing clinical oversight to our Psychiatric Youth Counselor staff that support psychological and behavioral health services to residents with intellectual disabilities needing specialized services.

Supported by DSHS, Washington State Department of Children Youth and Families, Washington State Health Care Authority, MultiCare and Seattle Children’s Hospital, t his voluntary facility currently serves up to 12 youth. The property was designed with youth in mind and features accessible spaces for on-site educational services and therapies, and beautiful outdoor spaces. Lake Burien is part of DSHS's Developmental Disabilities Administration .

Some Of What You Will Do

  • Serve as the psychological consultant to the Interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop positive behavioral support plans.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations and comprehensive functional assessments.
  • Maintain oversight of all positive behavioral support plans and recommend changes as necessary.
  • Provide diagnostic assessments to clarify treatment needs.
  • Provide consultation and training to professional and direct care staff.
  • Ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner.
  • Sets standards, policies and procedures for facility-wide psychological services.

Who Should Apply

Licensed Psychologist, Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an American Psychological Association accredited university psychology department or professional school of psychology with three years of post-doctoral experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience working with children and adolescents in mental health and substance-use treatment
  • Training in chemical dependency assessment, prevention, and treatment
  • Background in developmental theory and the developmental teaching model
  • Proficiency with evidence-based modalities (DBT, FFT, MI, PCIT, TF-CBT)
  • Familiarity with milieu management, evidence-based treatment models, and juvenile forensics
  • Experience providing clinical leadership to staff and interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience treating people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring disorders
  • Capacity to develop effective behavioral intervention strategies
  • Understanding of diagnostic concepts and current intervention approaches
  • Capable to evaluate treatment-plan effectiveness
  • Consistent professionalism and composure in difficult situations
