Position Summary
The admissions clerk ensures that accurate demographic information is collected from outpatients, inpatients and emergency department patients and entered accurately into appropriate software systems. In addition, the clerk is responsible for explaining hospital admission policies and HIPAA to patients and their families. This position will prepare an estimate of amount owed by patient according to specific payor contract and discuss payment arrangements with guarantor. This position will obtain picture identification to ensure adherence to the “Red Flag Rule” and explain and obtain signatures on all applicable forms. This position will be responsible for reconciling daily cash deposits by area. This position has exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids. This position spends the majority of time sitting, with frequent walking of short distances. This position is responsible for utilizing computer systems upon competency training.

Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required
The position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and communicate effectively, as usually demonstrated by completion of high school studies or a GED and one year of experience in an office setting. In addition, familiarity with medical terminology is strongly preferred.
Salary : $30,400 - $38,500
