Spotlight Theatre Instructor
A Spotlight Theatre Instructor may be responsible for teaching theater classes, assisting with choreography, assisting with costumes, or supporting the overall production process. This role requires a creative, organized, and dedicated individual who is passionate about theater education and production.
Part Time position for the show/program (will discuss schedule/hours for this role in interview). Great Pay! $19.00/hour Free Membership!!
What you will do!
Classes:
- Plan and teach theater class curriculum.
Student Coordination:
- Assist with the check-in and check-out process for student actors and technicians, taking attendance, making calls to any absent students, and ensuring all young people associated with the production are accounted for during rehearsals and properly checked out with a parent or guardian at the conclusion of rehearsal.
Costume and Prop Design:
- Design specific costumes or props according to the production concept and story era determined through consultation with the Director.
- Determine if modifications can be made to existing costumes or props or if new construction is required.
- Train and supervise volunteer assistants in the design, construction, repair, alteration, maintenance, and storage of theatrical costumes.
Safety and Conduct:
- Ensure the safe and proper conduct of actors, performers, participants, technicians, and staff involved in the production.
- Maintain the safe and proper use of theater facilities.
Artistic Contribution:
- Assist with artistic decisions related to the production and communicate that vision to actors, technicians, and other staff involved in the rehearsal and production process.
- Engage students and community actors in innovative activities that serve as both preparation for the final performance and learning opportunities in line with best practices in arts education.
Audition and Rehearsal Support:
- Assist with auditions, including the selection and contacting of actors to participate in the production.
- Block specific scenes and run rehearsals as needed.
Performance Supervision:
- Supervise the cast and serve as a liaison to theater staff and community members during all performances.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the theater director or other supervising staff.
What you must have (Qualifications)!
- Experience in theater education, costume design, or choreography.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, staff, and community members.
- Passion for theater and a commitment to arts education
