Description

The Planned Giving Coordinator provides essential administrative, operational, and donor-relations support to advance the goals of Washington National Cathedral’s planned giving program. This position is responsible for facilitating timely responses to donor inquiries, preparing correspondence and informational materials, and ensuring accurate and complete documentation within the donor database. The Coordinator plays a key role in donor stewardship, planned giving marketing efforts, and the successful execution of events that engage and recognize supporters. Working closely with the Director of Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Coordinator contributes to program strategy, strengthens donor relationships, and upholds high standards of service aligned with departmental and organizational objectives.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to requests for information, including drafting letters, preparing emails, and sending requested materials.
  • Provide personal outreach and stewardship to prospective and current planned giving donors, including members of the Cathedral Founders Society (CFS).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in Raiser’s Edge, documenting all interactions and commitments.
  • Support the development and implementation of the planned giving marketing program.
  • Assist in planning and executing the annual CFS luncheon and other in-house stewardship events and engagement opportunities.
  • Develop process and efficiencies with Worship on interment-related inquiries and commitments to facilitate gifts, including but not limited to filing application approvals, flagging for the Director of Planned Giving any opportunities for contact, and other process related duties.
  • Document donor activity and conversations in RE NXT to ensure accurate reporting and effective donor management.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to the Director of Planned Giving on program strategy, operations, and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects assigned to support departmental goals and the organization’s mission.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to three years’ experience in an administrative or operations position including experience in a nonprofit development or fundraising office.
  • Strong command of MS Office applications, especially Word (including mail merges), Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience with CRM systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RE NXT and Raiser’s Edge database view.
  • Strong interest in database, data management, and donor research
  • Interest in Planned Giving

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment among diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and experience drafting and preparing business correspondence.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including judgement as to when to handle an issue vs. escalating to superior.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and workflow.
  • Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Proficiency in a donor database, Raisers Edge / RE NXT or other CRM system.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Episcopal Church traditions, customs, and hierarchy.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires work during regular business hours and outside of regular business hours, including some evenings and weekends during holidays.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid model of work, requiring 3 days/week in the office.
  • This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
  • The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard.
  • The position also requires near and far vision for reading and preparing written reports and other required documents.
  • Acute hearing is also required when providing phone assistance.
  • The need to lift, drag, push, and pull files, reports and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.

Salary range $56,000 - $60,000 commensurate to experience.
