  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines and grade levels.
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for and command of the subject matter and enthusiasm for teaching middle school students.
  • Scaffold and differentiate instruction for a range of learners.
  • Lead students by example and with empathy, building a healthy and positive culture that can weather and grow through conflict.
  • Build resilient relationships, uphold rules and standards, and resolve conflicts among students through student-centered and restorative approaches.
  • Possess a commitment to implementing best practices for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and willingness to learn about and enact the Montessori values of peace and justice.
  • Cultivate and maintain supportive relationships with students, colleagues, and families; follow up regularly with parents on students’ academic progress, social growth, and learning needs at designated times of the year and through additional meetings as necessary.
  • Demonstrate competence with current educational technology; possesses facility with electronic communication and learning management systems.
  • Participate actively in the Middle School community, including division and all-school meetings, assigned non-instructional duties, overnight field trips, day trips, and our advisory program.

Requirements:

  • Respect for and commitment to the development of adolescent learners
  • Strong teaching and curriculum development experience
  • Excellent references
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The desire and ability to work collaboratively with parents and colleagues
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Evidence of commitment to Montessori Peace and Justice principles, including best practices for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.
