What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Nurse 1 - RN New Grad Residency Program position at Washington Hospital?
Salary Range: $71.65
Summary of Duties: The Staff Nurse I is a new graduate professional RN who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients within the Medical Surgical departments for a designated time frame, providing fiscally responsible care via the nursing process, therapeutic use of self, environment/instrumentation and collaboration with other health care team members following the California Nurse Practice Act and standards set by WHHS policies and other related regulatory bodies.
During the 6 month Residency program, the New Grad will work: up to 40 hours per week, varying 8hr and 12hr shifts (days, evenings and/or nights) at the discretion of the Program Coordinator based on training, organizational, and staffing needs.
Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or higher required
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current CA RN license required. AHA BLS required. ACLS preferred.
Experience Requirements: Has six months or less acute care hospital experience required.
Special Skills/Abilities: Ability to work productively in a busy and complex environment. Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
***Note: The New Grad RN will work up to eighty (80) hours per two (2) week pay period during the first 6 months of employment. The New Graduate RN will be transferred into a Medical-Surgical department and position out of the New Grad Program, with a specified variable shift, being determined at that time, at the completion of the RN Residency program and first six months of employment. Upon transfer to a Med-Surg department, out of the New Grad RN Program, final shift, FTE status, and department assignment will be determined by the Nursing Management Team. Final shift and F.T.E status will either be 8 hour (0.8 FTE) or 12 hour shifts (0.9 FTE).
** Note: There will be 9 RNs selected for the RN New Grad Residency program. Start date of the program will be in June 2023
