WGL - Production Support Technician

Job Description

Provides labor for all ancillary activities related to the processing of meters, instruments, ERTS and all other assignments as directed. Responsible for the testing and processing for all residential diaphragm meters.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Use SAP Device Management T-codes related to receiving, transferring, issuing, testing, certifying, palletizing & retiring meters & ERTs.
• Receive and properly store any deliveries to Meter Shop.
• Carry and stock meters in a manner consistent with the proper meter handling procedures described in the operations manual including clean-up of meter storage locations.
• Load, unload, and stock all sizes and types of metering devices for all customers at all locations.
• Load and unload shipment trucks.
• Rearrange and restack meter shop meter inventory not at Ferguson Industrial.
• Prepare deliveries shipping out of Meter Shop.
• Recycle/scrap retired gas measuring devices.
• Conduct minor repairs and adjustments on residential meters.
• Clean and paint meters.
• Leak tests meters.
• In/Out test meters using SNAP provers & Dunk tanks, including entering test information into SAP Device Management.
• Assemble and test indexes with electronic interfaces.
• Prepare appropriate production and sample reports for meters.
• Operate FC300s, FCS or FDM Tools or Mobile Radio to program ERTs and locate lost meters.
• Drain any oil remaining in rotary meters to prepare for testing.
• Assist Shop Maintenance Technician & Customer Measurement Field Technician with unboxing and delivering devices to be tested.
• Knowledge of codes and standards relating to handling and storing meters and regulators (O&M Sections 5101, 5125).
• Operate forklift.
• Hold truck for Customer Field Measurement Technician per request.
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor; may include assignments to related business support and administrative activities (ex. backend meter processing, backend corrosion processing, backend leak/damager prevention processing, peer safety observations, vehicle clean-out, cross functional training activities, etc.)
  
  
  

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Valid Driver License required
• Forklift Certification required
• High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D. Basic computer skills: Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, SAP Device Management, basic mechanical skills. Must successfully complete all assigned training modules, qualifying exams and / or field clearances.
  
  
  

Requires: Must have one (1) year experience as Meter Service Representative I. Experience with all types of meters used by the Company. Good mechanical, electrical and electronic skills and knowledge of all test apparatus required to perform set-up and testing activities in the meter shop.

Bargaining Unit/Local: International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 96

Rate Classification: Grade 5 – Compensation is union-based and will be paid in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Updated wage rates are currently pending final implementation.
