Substitute Teacher – Early Childhood through Grade 8
Washington Episcopal School (WES) is currently seeking Substitute Teachers to join our dynamic and collaborative learning community. Substitute teachers play a vital role in ensuring continuity of instruction and care when classroom teachers are absent. Candidates should be flexible, nurturing, and passionate about supporting students’ academic and personal growth in a warm, joyful environment.
Ideal candidates will be engaging, organized, and confident in managing classrooms for students ranging from Early Childhood through Grade 8. They should be enthusiastic about education, demonstrate professionalism, and thrive in a collaborative school culture.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher in a clear and engaging manner
- Manage classroom routines and maintain a positive learning environment
- Provide a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere for all students
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, faculty, and staff
- Supervise students in the classroom, hallway, and outdoor settings (as needed)
- Follow school policies and procedures to ensure student well-being
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (degree in education or related field preferred)
- Prior teaching or classroom experience, particularly with Early Childhood or elementary/middle school students, is highly desirable
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different grade levels and teaching styles
- Commitment to supporting the WES mission of inspiring academic and personal excellence
Pay and Benefits:
- Full day pay is $160 per day
