Job Purpose:
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a hygienic and efficient environment that supports the smooth operation of food service activities. This role is crucial in upholding the standards of safety and sanitation, contributing to the overall dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned and sanitized promptly and effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness in all kitchen and dining areas, including floors, walls, and surfaces.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining areas before and after service.
- Manage waste disposal, recycling, and composting in accordance with facility guidelines.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and request restocks as necessary.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and report any hazards or maintenance needs to management.
- Support other team members in various tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Steward, or Culinary Management team.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience:
- Previous experience in a steward or similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items as required.
