Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, this position will:
**General Maintenance and Facility Upkeep.**
- Maintain adult trapping, sorting, and spawning equipment.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to hatchery screens, crowders, bird netting.
- Work with Grant County Public Utility District on any projects outside of the requirements of the MM2 position.
- Minor repairs which include floors, walls, ceilings, windows, doors, and roofs. Install and adjust doors and locks and install or replace weather stripping and insulation. Minor concrete work including patching of concrete walls. Minor electrical works that includes limit switches, relays, and breakers.
- Monitor all electrical systems including multiple motor-control systems, and complete minor repairs as appropriate.
- Conduct lockout/tag out procedures as required to ensure safety.
- Identify and make recommendations to FHS4/HOM (hatchery operations manager) for long term electrical system needs/improvements.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs water valves and gates. Able to work with various types of plumbing materials such as PVC, steel, and ductile piping.
- Operate and maintain forklifts, tractors, gator, and all hatchery vehicles owned by WDFW.
- Maintain and repair small equipment like pressure washers, vacuum pumps, egg picking machines, blow feeders, bird hazing equipment, compressors, and Wally whackers.
- Maintain and repair egg incubation system along with formalin treatment system.
- Maintain and repair fish delivery and transport systems which includes fish pumps and transport tanks.
- Maintain and repair adult trapping equipment including crowders, weirs, and pescalator.
- Maintain transport tanks for hauling adults which includes recirculating pumps, water delivery valves and oxygen delivery systems.
- Maintain and repair adult holding and sorting equipment including center channel, adult pond crowders, Electro-anesthesia system (EA), air systems for controlling center channel and EA system.
- Operate and conduct weekly checks on eight production wells and river intake system.
- Conduct general maintenance on other pumps and associated systems such as chemical treatment pumps, vacuum pumps, recirculating pumps.
- Communicate repairs (through the FHS 4 or PUD) by certified electricians, pump/well repair companies, etc. as appropriate.
Competent in all welding systems
Fabricate various custom designed fish culture tools and equipment as needed to increase efficiency.
