About The Opportunity
The District Attorney's Office is seeking a Restitution Specialist to join our Victim Assistance unit. This position will collect, organize, summarize, and disseminate restitution requests on all prosecuted criminal cases. This role requires specialized knowledge in obtaining and comprehending medical, banking, and insurance records, reports, forms, and ledgers related to the documentation of losses suffered by victims of crime. Additionally, critical thinking is required to both successfully locate the relevant documentation, as well as to efficiently organize the information into a final product that is easy to comprehend.
This incumbent will work closely with the Deputy District Attorney as well as the Victim Advocate assigned to each case. The individual in this position may be required to appear in court infrequently to support the restitution documents and conclusions submitted. This role is very dynamic, fast paced, and creative, yet it offers the unique opportunity to utilize technical accounting skills and provide a service to the community by assisting victims of crime.

Attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to be organized and prioritize work, ability to think critically and locate, analyze, decipher, consolidate, and summarize complicated financial documents. Ability to communicate and work effectively with victims of crime, advocates, attorneys and judges. Ability to be proactive in the creation of restitution summaries for files that are complete, accurate and succinct. This role requires specialized knowledge in obtaining and comprehending medical, banking, and insurance records, reports, forms, and ledgers related to the documentation of losses suffered by victims of crime. Additionally, critical thinking is necessary to successfully perform the duties of this job.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in criminal justice, corrections, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or related field AND one (1) year of work experience related to accounting, insurance claims, collections, or financial record keeping; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent AND Three (3) years of work experience related to accounting, insurance claims, collections, or financial record keeping.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.
