POSITION TITLE: Diesel Mechanic 1 / 2
REPORTS TO: Assigned Supervisor
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY: Based on verifiable experience (state or local government)
STARTING DATE: Immediate
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- CDL (Commercial Drivers License)
- High School Diploma / GED
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
Basic knowledge of school bus and vehicles operation and maintenance- Skill to perform manual tasks associated with engine maintenance, tire replacement, fuel dispensing, etc.
- Skill in operating various machines in repairing vehicles
- Ability to locate problems
- Ability to physically perform minor repairs
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Sufficient education and experience to demonstrate possession of the needed knowledge and abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive role model both professionally and personally
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fills fuel tanks on school buses and school-owned vehicles
- Performs general maintenance as needed
- Diagnoses minor and frequently occurring mechanical problems
- Performs duties in the operation, repair and maintenance of the vehicles in the school transportation program
