Position

Position Title: SASH® Embedded Mental Health Clinician (SASH Clinician) is a key member of the SASH team, working collaboratively with the SASH Coordinator and Wellness Nurse (RN) at designated affordable housing sites. This role provides whole-person care coordination and emotional wellness support to individual participants and the broader SASH population (up to 100 participants per panel). Located on-site, the clinician delivers flexible, targeted interventions tailored to the unique needs of each community, with a focus on promoting mental health, housing stability, and social inclusion.

Job Duties

  • Provide individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as psychosocial support through in-person, phone, and telehealth formats
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and triage to identify needs and connect individuals to appropriate services
  • Facilitate group programs on topics such as mental health, substance use, aging, and emotional wellness
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, psychiatric services, and community partners
  • Offer consultation and training to staff on behavioral health topics and develop workshops for diverse audiences
  • Support clients with conflict mediation, completing advance directives, obtaining DNR/COLSTs, and maintaining housing stability
  • Respond to escalated behaviors, including suicidality and self-harm, using therapeutic redirection and crisis response plans

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related field
  • Licensed or listed on the Roster of Non-Licensed, Non-Certified Psychotherapists in Vermont
    • Note: As of January 1, 2016, Vermont regulation requires individuals on the Roster of Non-Licensed, Non-Certified Psychotherapists to actively pursue licensure and become fully licensed within five years of the roster issue date. This rule does not apply to First Call for Chittenden County
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Experience providing therapy and psychosocial support across multiple formats
  • Skilled in conducting assessments and connecting individuals to appropriate resources
  • Experience facilitating group programs and collaborating with healthcare and community partners
  • Background in staff consultation, training, and workshop development

  • Proficient in office technology and familiar with agency data security protocols
  • Skilled in using data systems to collect and report program outcomes accurately
  • Actively participates in supervision, team meetings, and administrative tasks
  • Capable of safely managing unpredictable client behavior and applying crisis intervention strategies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely manage escalated or combative behavior in residential and community settings.
  • Frequently repositions self and routinely lifts or moves items up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while completing documentation and telehealth services.
  • Manual dexterity required for repetitive tasks such as typing, writing, and using office equipment.
  • Work may involve travel between sites and participation in community-based activities.
  • Requires flexible scheduling to meet client and team needs, including occasional urgent coverage.
  • Participation in ongoing safety and crisis response training is required.
  • Comfortable working with individuals experiencing complex mental health, developmental, and co-occurring medical needs.
  • Environment may include emotionally intense situations and unpredictable client behaviors

This position is a temporary grant funded position. WCMHS has many full-time positions available should the grant funding not be renewed.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: This full-time position offers an hourly rate of $26.24/hr. and excellent benefits, including tuition reimbursement/student loan assistance; generous paid time off; employer-sponsored health, dental, life, and disability insurances; and a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer match.
