Clinician in Community Developmental Services
Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) is looking for a clinician to work with adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (DD/IDD) including individuals with co-occurring mental health, behavior, trauma-related, and/or substance abuse issues.
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of internal and external partners, this role serves the Capitol area community by helping individuals move towards their treatment goals with trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and culturally responsive services.
Summary of Duties
  • Provide clinical care and therapy (individual, family, and group) with minimal direct supervision for a moderately acute caseload of individuals with DD/IDD and co-occurring behavioral health needs
  • Complete screenings, intakes, biopsychosocial assessments, risk assessments, and diagnostic formulations, evaluating the interaction between psychiatric symptoms, developmental disability, trauma, and environmental stressors
  • Develop and implement individualized, person-centered treatment plans, behavior support strategies, and safety plans using evidence-informed, developmentally appropriate approaches
  • Collaborate and coordinate services across internal/external partners and systems including medical, psychiatric, educational, vocational, residential, financial, and community-based resources
  • Respond to moderate clinical problems, urgent concerns, and crisis situations under minimal or general supervision, including providing on-call coverage and coordinating with emergency services
  • Write timely, accurate clinical documentation (assessments, progress notes, crisis documentation, discharge summaries) and routinely collaborate to generate program data and assigned reports
  • Attend and potentially facilitate advanced-level trainings for staff or community partners, follow and help inform program policies, and other assigned duties according to agency needs
Compensation and Benefits

WCMHS provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and a generous paid time off package including flexible holidays (12.5 per year) and 12 vacation days accrued in the first year.

Summary of Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience providing clinical services to youth and adults with DD/IDD and their families required
  • Master's degree with active progress toward licensure required; licensure preferred
  • Demonstrated track record collaborating with families, guardians, and community providers in community mental health, developmental services, school, residential, or family-based settings
  • Experience with trauma-informed care, person-centered planning and strengths-based practice and clinical recommendations
  • Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnostic considerations for DD/IDD, counseling theories, co-occurring conditions, HIPAA, and professional ethics. Familiarity with positive behavior support, functional assessment, and adapted clinical interventions preferred
  • Excellent organization and communication skills across a wide range of communication styles and professional systems. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively is a must
  • Valid driver's license with a safe, reliable, insured vehicle and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to deliver services and complete treatment notes in English
Workplace Conditions
Most work occurs in an office or other indoor setting. Extended hours of sitting or standing and using a computer. Some direct client care is included. Will need to navigate a variety of physical environments in various program spaces.
