* Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates appropriate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care to provide positive patient outcomes. Is able to perform all aspects of job competently.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital policies and nursing standards of care.
- Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications and self-care skills; answering questions.
- Maintains the privacy and security of all Protected Health Information (PHI). Is sensitive to personal privacy and security issues.
- Provides exceptional customer service and resolving patient problems and need by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Promotes hospital improvement activities and own professional development. Includes certifications, licensure, monthly staff meeting, annual in-service, CEUs and hospital events.
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Education: Minimum, Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Six months to one year of experience in healthcare is preferred. New graduates are considered to have met this requirement.
Licenses: Valid Illinois Registered Nurse License or RN license from reciprocal state
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Skilled in the use of a computer * Customer service skills * Knowledge of safety, environmental and infection control methods * Knowledge of laboratory protocols and procedures
