School Nurse for 2026-27 school year
Qualifications:
1. Certificate as public school nurse and other certificate(s) required by the State of Illinois.
2. Valid state license to practice as a registered nurse.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Dean of Students
Job Goals: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for all students by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the school.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Shall formulate and recommend to the Administration school health policies and/or procedures.
2. Shall maintain cumulative health records and daily records on all students.
3. Shall maintain up-to-date health and immunization records on all students and notify parents/guardians of students not in compliance with the Illinois law.
4. Shall arrange for hearing and vision testing for all students required by the School Code of Illinois.
5. Shall provide emergency care for students and school personnel.
6. Shall serve as a member of the Infectious Disease Team.
7. Shall act as a school liaison, when appropriate, to the medical community.
8. Shall be a resource person for WCHS staff and provide timely information to them concerning health related issues.
9. Shall be available as needed as a community consultant to work with parents and other groups on health issues.
10. Shall be responsible for all other duties as assigned by the Administration
11. Shall notify teachers/staff of any students with health concerns or risks as necessary.
12. Shall provide mandated training to teachers.
13. Shall create and provide emergency routes of travel and assign staff to assist students with special needs.
Terms of Employment: 195 days with starting and ending times when school is in session to be determined by school schedule.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Dean of Students in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation.
