Washington College in Chestertown, MD, is seeking a GIS intern to assist with ongoing mapping, spatial analysis, and dashboard development requests from local and state nonprofit organizations, specifically the Maryland Highway Safety Office.

- Assist with the preparation, cleaning, and quality control of traffic safety datasets (e.g., crash, citation, roadway, and related spatial data) for analysis and mapping.
- Use ArcGIS Pro to perform spatial analysis, geocoding, joins, and basic statistical summaries related to traffic safety trends and patterns.
- Create professional cartographic maps (hot spot maps, density maps, thematic maps) to
- Contribute to documentation and metadata, helping ensure datasets, maps, and applications are well-described and reproducible.
- Support dashboard and reporting efforts that translate raw traffic safety data into actionable insights for state and local partners.
- Additional tasks as assigned

- Passionate about conservation, land stewardship, community, and state-based projects.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency with ArcGIS Online and related geospatial tools required.
- Some experience with Python is a plus but not required. We're happy to teach the right candidate if assigned to a project with programming components.
