**Instructional Responsibilities**
- **Teach general music classes to students in grades K--6 in 30-minute instructional blocks.**
- **Develop and implement engaging, standards-based music lessons that build musical skills in rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, listening, and performance.**
- **Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs and English learners.**
- **Introduce students to a variety of musical genres, instruments, and cultural traditions.**
- **Incorporate singing, movement, instruments (e.g., xylophones, percussion), and music technology in instruction.**
- **Assess student learning through informal and formal measures; track progress and provide feedback to students and families.**
- **Establish a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment.**
- **Implement consistent routines to maximize learning within short class periods.**
- **Manage large groups of students across multiple grade levels with age-appropriate expectations.**
- **Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and grade-level teams to support schoolwide learning goals.**
- **Communicate regularly with families about music learning, events, and performances.**
- **Coordinate with administration regarding scheduling, curriculum, and program needs.**
- **Direct the annual school musical, including selecting the show in collaboration with school leadership.**
- **Organize auditions, casting, rehearsals, and production schedules.**
- **Teach songs, choreography, and staging to student performers.**
- **Coordinate costumes, sets, props, lighting, and sound (with parent volunteers or staff assistance when available).**
- **Manage communication with families regarding rehearsal expectations, performance dates, and volunteer needs.**
- **Plan, organize, and direct two school-wide choir concerts annually (e.g., winter and spring).**
- **Select age-appropriate choral repertoire for all participating grade levels.**
- **Teach and rehearse concert music during regular class periods and additional rehearsals as needed.**
- **Coordinate logistics, including performance space, risers, sound equipment, and student placement.**
- **Communicate concert details to families, teachers, and school administration.**
- **Collaborate with staff to manage student transitions and audience logistics during performances.**
- **Oversee concert programs, decorations, and any needed volunteers.**
- **Maintain and organize music materials, instruments, and equipment.**
- **Monitor and request supplies, repairs, and budget needs.**
- **Ensure safe and proper use of instruments and classroom technology.**
