What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health - Peer Support Specialist position at Wasatch Behavioral Health?

We are currently accepting applications for the position of, Peer Support Specialist to work with our Crisis Residential Support (CRS) program.

The CRS program provides crisis mental health services to all age groups in Utah and Wasatch Counties. The Peer Support Specialist develops and offers in-home, community and in-clinic peer support services, acting as a role model and providing both direct and indirect support services to promote the recovery process

Schedule:
Days may vary, Morning Shift: 7:00AM - 3:00 PM; Swing Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Compensation:
$15.62 - $20.79 per hour

Non-Certified Wage: $15.62 per hour

Certified Wage: $16.41 - $20.79 per hour (depending on experience)

Additional compensation available for Spanish speakers, after testing proficiency.


Essential Functions
(Performs all or some of the following)

Establishes, maintains and co-facilitates a therapeutic relationship with clients

Assists in establishing and maintaining a recovery-oriented program culture

Engages clients individually and in groups

Models competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills

Observes, records and reports client behavior and progress

Demonstrates knowledge of de-escalation techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; AND One (1) year post high school education in social work, psychology or a related field; AND One (1) year of general work experience; OR An equivalent combination of related education and experience.

OR

High school diploma or GED; AND Self-identified individual who is in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder; or parent of a child with a behavioral health disorder; or other adult who has or has had an ongoing and personal relationship with an individual with a behavioral health disorder.

Preferred Qualifications: Successfully completed a Peer Support Training through the Utah Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (DSAMH)

Salary : $16 - $21
