Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations using advanced diagnostic tools to assess vision and ocular health.
- Diagnose and manage conditions related to ophthalmology, including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye diseases.
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or treatments tailored to each patient's needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on eye health, proper contact lens use, and preventive care strategies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient treatment plans.
- Perform vital signs assessments and utilize aseptic techniques during examinations to ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice.
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Proven experience with optical equipment and understanding of optical principles.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation of patient visits.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Ability to interpret medical coding for billing and insurance purposes accurately.
