To perform this position, you'll need to have an understanding of mechanical systems, and be able to use mechanical tools and precision instruments. This is a full-time position for experienced Manual Machinists who enjoys solving problems on the fly.
Responsibilities:
- Review samples, drawings and/or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Use hand tools to fabricate parts.
- Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines.
- Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Take precise measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Keep equipment in good working order.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
- Keep a record of jobs, machine hours and shop supplies used.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Machinist Qualifications/SKills:
- Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
- Proficient in math.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience in using lathes, grinders etc.
- Experience using precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurements.
- Ability to ready blueprints, schematics and manuals.
