Reports to:
Principal and ML Teacher
General Summary:
The paraprofessional for EL will provide supplemental services to English Learners in the process of learning academic English in a school setting
Hours:
35 hours per week and benefits eligible; Monday-Friday, 8:40-4:20 p.m.
Essential Functions:
Supplement services for EL students to provide English language development under the direct supervision of the EL teacher.
Supplement services for EL students to assist with academic language in the content or grade level classroom under the direct supervision of the EL or classroom teacher.
Assist students in adapting to a new culture.
Assist EL students with school work to increase academic language.
Attend EL Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) for direction and professional development.
Participates in staff development activities as recommended by the principal.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED, 48 college credits or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment
Ability to work with students in an individualized, small group or classroom setting under the direct supervision of a certified teacher
Self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize responsibilities.
Fluently bilingual in spoken and written Spanish and English is desirable

180 days (for the school year)
