PARAPROFESSIONAL – Welding and Machining

 

Reports to: Director and Assistant Director of the Warsaw Area Career Center

 

General Summary: A paraprofessional in this role assists certified teachers in welding and machining classrooms, supporting the creation of a safe and productive learning environment where students’ individual needs are met.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assists the teacher with learning activities specific to welding and machining, including the preparation and organization of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Provides support in the supervision of students during practical, hands-on activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assists with student setup, maintenance, and cleaning of welding and machining tools, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Provides educational support to students, ensuring they remain focused and on task during instructional periods, and offers additional assistance to students who may need help understanding technical concepts or completing assignments.
  • Assists the teacher in recording student progress and technical skill development, using appropriate tools and methods.
  • Supervises students in instructional and/or assessment activities, at the direction of the teacher.
  • Communicates with the classroom teacher on student progress and/or special needs, with a focus on developing technical competencies in welding and machining.
  • Interacts respectfully and professionally with staff, students, and parents.
  • Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the principal or supervising teacher, including those specific to welding and machining tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma (minimum)
    Required: 48 college credits or the ability to pass the Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Experience: Evidence of experience working with students, preferably in a technical or hands-on learning environment.

Length of Position: 36 weeks (for the school year)

 

Position Type: Non-exempt
