Position Overview: Warrior Ice Arena is seeking passionate and experienced Hockey Coaches to join our team and help foster a positive, skill-building environment for players of all ages and abilities. We are looking for coaches to assist with a variety of programs, including Hockey Camps, Learn to Play, Shooting Clinics, Adult Hockey Programs and more. Ideal candidates should have a strong hockey background with either past playing experience or coaching experience and a desire to develop athletes in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hockey Camps: Lead and assist in organizing hockey camps for various age groups and skill levels. Provide on-ice instruction and off-ice development, focusing on both individual skills and team play.
- Learn To Play Program: Deliver high-quality instruction for beginner and novice players in the Learn to Play Hockey program. Help young players develop the fundamentals of skating, passing, shooting, and game strategies in a safe and supportive environment.
- Shooting Clinics: Run specialized shooting clinics to help players refine their shooting skills. Focus on developing proper technique, accuracy, and power for players looking to enhance their scoring ability.
- Adult Programs: Work with adult players in skill development sessions, focusing on improving skating, passing, puck handling, and shooting. Provide constructive feedback and encourage players to develop their hockey skills in a fun and inclusive setting.
- Team Development: Provide coaching support for league teams and assist with practice planning and execution. Foster a positive, motivating atmosphere for players of all skill levels.
- Player Engagement: Build relationships with players, providing ongoing feedback and encouragement. Act as a mentor and role model for players on and off the ice.
- Safety: Ensure the safety of all participants, including proper supervision during all activities and adherence to all safety protocols.
Current Programs looking for additional coaches:
Monday 4 PM Learn to Play Hockey
Friday 4 PM Learn to Play Hockey
Saturday 8:30 AM Learn to Play Hockey
Tuesdays/Thursdays 6 PM - 8 PM -- Off-ice and Conditioning
Additional programs may become available. Please specify availability in any email correspondences.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous playing experience at a competitive level (High School, junior, college, or professional) OR
- Previous coaching experience, preferably with youth or adult programs.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of hockey fundamentals, strategy, and training techniques.
- Knowledge of hockey drills, skills development, and game tactics.
- Skills:
- Ability to motivate and engage players in a positive and supportive manner.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with other coaches and staff members.
- Physical Requirements:
- Must be physically able to demonstrate hockey skills on the ice.
- Availability:
- Flexible availability for various programs, including weekday and weekend sessions for either Mornings and nights
