Manager of Custodians

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties in maintaining the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety, to ensure that the full educational use may be made at all times.  In addition, must maintain cost effectiveness and fiscal responsibility in performing duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assigns, trains, and supervises all custodial employees.
• Establishes and administers schedules and procedures for the regular, ongoing custodial care of all school and office facilities of the school corporation.
• Recruits, screens, and recommends hiring of employees.
• Selects and maintains appropriate inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
• Maintains schedules of work for each building and ensures proper equipment and supplies are on hand.
• Calls and runs staff meetings, as necessary.
• Establishes and supervises summer cleaning programs and schedules.
• Authorizes and supervises the repair of custodial equipment.
• Interacts with the Director of Maintenance in establishing guidelines for the division of responsibility for minor in-school repairs and emergency repairs.
• Inspects buildings and confers with principals regarding custodial and grounds work.
• Prepares and administers the custodial services budget.
• Maintains personnel and other records, as required.
• Keeps current on latest techniques, products and equipment, and participates in appropriate local, state, and national professional meetings.
• Schedules and completes employee evaluations.
• Arranges for substitute custodians, when needed.
• Ensures compliance with ADA and OSHA.
• Member of the Employee Safety Committee.
• Performs other related essential duties as required.

Training Required

High school graduate with administrative, custodial, maintenance, or related experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in the position.

Salary : $71,728 - $105,632
