Job Title: CNC Machinist – Warren Electric Heating Technologies

Department: Production
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Location: Warren Rhode Island
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to manufacture precision components used in the production of electric immersion heaters. This position requires interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, performing quality inspections, and ensuring all machined parts meet company specifications and quality standards. The CNC Machinist works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to support efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce precision parts.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications.
  • Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets.
  • Program or edit CNC machine programs as required using G-code or CAM software.
  • Manufacture components such as heater flanges, fittings, thermowells, threaded adapters, and other precision parts.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
  • Verify finished products meet dimensional tolerances and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and product quality.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain accurate production records and inspection documentation.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production personnel to improve manufacturing processes and reduce waste.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certification or apprenticeship in machining preferred.
  • 2–5 years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CNC mills and lathes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machine setup.
  • Experience machining stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, aluminum, and specialty alloys is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with electrical heating elements, temperature sensors, thermostats, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME, UL, CSA, CE, or IEC standards applicable to heating equipment is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during the workday.
  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate machinery and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery, cutting tools, and industrial equipment.
  • Use required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing and machine shop environment.
  • Exposure to machine noise, metal chips, cutting fluids, and varying temperatures.
  • Overtime may be required to meet production schedules.
