QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Library and Information Science

Must hold a Tennessee School Library Information Specialist PreK-12 endorsement

JOB GOALS

To develop and implement procedures for identification, evaluation, acquisition, production, organization, and coordination of the school's library resources, and to instruct, motivate, and assist students and staff in the use of those resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules and service.

1. Explains and assists in use of the reference sources, such as the card or book catalog, periodical indexes and computerized search systems to locate information.

1. Describes or demonstrates procedures for searching catalog files and computerized search systems.

1. Searches catalog files and shelves to locate information.

1. Issues and receives materials for circulation or for use in library.

1. Assembles and arranges displays of books and other library materials.

1. Maintains reference and circulation materials.

1. Answers correspondence on special reference subjects.

1. Selects, orders, catalogs, and classifies materials.

1. Plans library assignments with teachers and students.

1. Promotes good library conduct.

1. Helps students develop skills in using library.

1. Plans and directs or carries out special projects involving library promotion and outreach activity.

1. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 40 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting up to 20 pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

1. Ability to lift and carry books.

Normal working environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Ten month year. Salary and work year to be established by Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
