TITLE: OFFICE SUPPORT SPECIALIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.

2. Demonstrate and/or develop skills to operate office and educational
equipment and a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible
secretarial and clerical experience.

3. Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by
Kentucky state law.

4. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find
appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Principal and/or designee

JOB GOAL:

To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the office so that the office's
maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

Knowledge of:

1. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

2. Applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other
applicable laws.

3. District organization, operations, policies and objectives.

4. Organization, rules, regulations, and programs related to an assigned
office or function.

5. Operation of a computer terminal and data entry techniques.

6. Software applications used by the District, including word processing
and spreadsheets.

7. Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques.

8. Basic budget monitoring and control.

9. Telephone techniques and etiquette.

10. Financial and statistical record-keeping techniques.

11. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

12. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ability to:

1. Perform advanced-level secretarial duties requiring independent
judgment and analysis.

2. Plan, organize and coordinate office activities and communications to
relieve the Director of routine administrative and clerical details.

3. Work independently with little direction.

4. Type at an acceptable rate of speed or minimum of 70 WPM.

5. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

6. Compose independently or from oral instructions letters, memos,
bulletins or other material.

7. Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and
procedures.

8. Maintain records and prepare reports.

9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

10. Meet schedules and time lines.

11. Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately.

12. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
with others.

1. Demonstrate effective typing skills.

2. Displays knowledge of and use of a computer.

3. Maintains accurate records, both financial and general.

4. Receives and routes all incoming communiqué in appropriate manner.

5. Plans and completes work on a timely basis.

6. Consistently displays self-discipline.

7. Cooperates with staff, both certified and classified.

8. Promotes job and loyalty to organization by actions which indicate a
spirit of pride for job and the organization for which employed.

9. Arrives early to assure he/she is ready to work at starting time.

10. Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the
Warren County Public Schools.

11. Is consistently responsible and displays an attitude of honesty and
credibility.

12. Eliminates personal business transactions during work hours.

13. Is neat and appropriately dressed.

14. Maintains desk and work area in a neat and organized manner.

15. Continually improves professional growth.

16. May assist with monitoring the lunchroom when necessary, as well

asassisting with other clerical duties within the school when other
staff are absent.

17. Other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

1. Number of days worked will be determined by the current school
calendar adopted by the Board.

2. Salary commensurate with adopted classified personnel salary
schedule.

3. Sick leave and emergency leave as stated in board policy.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel. Evaluation will be conducted
by the principal.
