Position Summary:
The Senior Transportation Driver is responsible for safely operating and driving a company-provided minivan for Warren County Community Services, Inc. according to scheduled routes. The Senior Transportation Driver must be able to pass specific health requirements prior to and during employment. In this role, you will be transporting seniors, for medical and other purposes. This is a part-time role, 15-20 hours/week, and requires availability four days during the week. Your schedule will vary daily.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operate public vehicle for WCCS according to scheduled pick-up and drop-off times.
2. Responsible for safety of all passengers, sometimes involving problem solving to meet this responsibility - assisting elderly and handicapped persons on and off vehicles, also in and out of buildings, always being concerned about the special needs of passengers, Senior Transportation Driver will be making independent decisions concerning these needs.
3. Maintain accurate vehicle logs, documenting passenger trips and obtaining passenger signatures on each trip sheet. Submit in timely manner.
4. Responsible for keeping cell phone contact with office and informing supervisor as soon as possible when unable to report for work, running behind schedule or any problems that may occur during route.
5. Responsible for condition of vehicle: all vehicles are to be kept clean, all mechanical problems are to be reported on daily check list, and other routine check lists are to be completed daily by driver.
6. Responsible for purchasing and maintaining adequate gas supply.
7. Responsible for collection of client documents
8. Attend workshops to maintain high level of training, to include passenger assistance classes, defensive driving, and sensitivity course.
9. Must follow all laws of State of Ohio that apply to driving and vehicle operation.
10. Must adhere to all passenger safety requirements.
11. Must report to supervisor any concerns, changes in client condition, or environment.
12. Must make complex decisions in often stressful situations.
Qualifications:
1. Requires High School Diploma or GED.
2. Requires minimum of 3 years driving experience. (Can include personal driving experience.)
3. Ability to annually obtain signed statement from doctor that driver does not have physical or mental limitations which would interfere with safe driving, passenger assistance or emergency activities. This includes vision and hearing. The driver must also demonstrate that they are not impaired by use of alcohol, narcotics or habit-forming drugs.
4. Must be able to endure exposure to disagreeable conditions, mental and physical.
5. Position requires daily direct contact with clients/ consumers/ community service and medical providers. Requires excellent communication skills.
6. Requires sustained physical exertion, occasionally assisting disabled onto and of vehicle and in and out of buildings.
7. Ability to be sensitive to needs of elderly and work with confidential information.
8. Must have current Ohio driver’s license, insurance and up to date personal license plates.
9. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with all types of people.
