The position of part-time Cook/Dining Center Coordinator will have the major responsibility for the daily operation of the nutrition center to which they are assigned. This role could float between any of our ten dining sites in Warren and Butler Counties. The ideal candidate will need to have a flexible schedule and be willing to travel to different locations, depending on the need. Our Centers are located in Lebanon, Franklin, Morrow, Hamilton, Middletown, Trenton, and Monroe. The coordinator will perform heating/chilling and food preparation as designated by menus. The coordinator will act as liaison between nutrition participants and agency programs and services.
This position will work approximately 10-15 hours/week with a schedule that could fall on Monday- Friday, approximately 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Pay is $15.26/hour.
Responsibilities:
1. Follows WCCS HIPAA and confidentiality policies, keeping client information confidential.
2. Assures that service delivery is documented by client signatures and daily reports.
3. Attends meetings at our Middletown Senior Nutrition Office, as scheduled.
4. Plans and schedules holiday observations, entertainment, etc.
5.Continues to develop creative ideas to improve attendance at Dining Centers.
6. Prepares salads, beverages, breads, vegetables and desserts as required by menu.
7. Assures that two volunteers count and record daily project income and lock donations in a secure place until pick-up.
8. Prepares tables for meal service and clean-up of tables and kitchen after meals.
9. Recruits and develops volunteers; trains, supervises and recognizes volunteers at yearly recognition event.
10. Ensures that only volunteers who have gone through WCCS training assist with meal set-up, service and clean up.
11. Maintains hot foods above 135 degrees and cold foods below 40 degrees at all times.
12. Checks and records refrigerator & freezer (if applicable) daily.
13. Calibrates food thermometer weekly & records results.
14. Takes and records hot & cold food temperatures when food arrives, when food is reheated/re-chilled (if needed) and immediately prior to meal service.
15. Serves menu items to the specifications noted on menus.
16. Ensures that there is a positive, pleasant dining environment for all clients.
17. Complies with all WCCS policies and procedures, program specifications and all HIPAA, confidentiality and Code of Ethics requirements, including APS and 911 policies.
Requirements:
1.High School diploma or its equivalent.
2. Ability to work without close supervision.
3. Ability to communicate well with aging population.
4. Has reliable transportation.
5. Ability to perform basic math calculations and read a thermometer.
6. Ability to maintain a professional distance and not get involved in client issues, gossip or disagreements.
7. Knowledge of aging services and aging issues to know when it is appropriate to advocate and/or refer to a supervisor for follow-up.
8. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, reach and lift up to 30 pounds independently.
9. Must be physically able to stand on your feet 2-3 hours at a time.
10. Must be able to see and hear adequately to perform all job responsibilities.
