POSITION: Substitute Systems Support Engineer
REPORTS TO: Director of Informational Technology or Designee
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Up to 28 hours per week, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred
Five or more years working in a school district technology department (preferred)
CompTIA A and Network certifications preferred (or in progress)
Proficient in Windows operating systems, including installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting (Chrome OS, iOS, Android, Windows 11, Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022/2025)
Experience with HP/Aruba switch configuration and troubleshooting
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace for Education
Skilled in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of computer and network equipment
Experience with the installation and support of software applications
Strong verbal and written communication skillsValid Ohio driver’s license
Must successfully pass a criminal background check
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Systems Support Engineer assists the Information Technology Director in implementing and maintaining the technology infrastructure at Warren County Career Center. This position plays a critical role in supporting the educational mission by ensuring the reliability and performance of computer systems, networks, and related technologies used by both the Secondary and Adult Education programs. The Systems Support Engineer is expected to model professionalism, demonstrate initiative, and contribute to a positive and secure learning environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support the implementation and maintenance of the District Technology Plan
Install, configure, test, and maintain computer hardware, software, and networking systems
Monitor and maintain the district's computing environment to ensure optimal performance
Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect data and infrastructure
Perform regular data backups and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness
Evaluate technology needs and recommend system improvements and upgrades
Work collaboratively with staff to resolve technical issues in a timely and professional manner
Provide user training and support for various hardware and software platforms
Maintain accurate documentation of all technical activities, assets, and support requests
Stay current with industry trends and district-used technologies through ongoing professional development
Salary: $18.00 per hour
