ASSISTANT COUNTY ATTORNEY
Seeking a full-time attorney to serve as in-house legal counsel for government located in the Adirondack Mountains and Lake George area. The attorney provides legal advice and representation to the Board of Supervisors, it's departments, officers and employees and resolves issues that arise from the County’s diverse daily operations on a wide range of legal topics.
Responsibilities include Family Court juvenile delinquency proceedings from arraignment through final disposition which require collaboration with local law enforcement officers, school district officials, probation officers, social workers and opposing counsel to achieve outcomes which are in the best interests of the child.
Appearing in civil actions and administrative proceedings and preparing pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, pre-trial submissions, and conducting hearings and trials.
Prior legal experience with municipal law, civil litigation, criminal law and/or family court proceedings is preferred, but not required.
Term: The attorney is appointed by the Warren County Attorney and must take a public oath of office.
Salary: Between $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year for experienced attorney, commensurate with experience, plus full County benefits available.
Qualifications: Candidates must be licensed to practice law in New York State and in good standing.
Residency Requirement: At the time of appointment, the attorney must reside in Warren County or an adjoining county (Saratoga County/Washington County/Essex County).
