Variable This position is ECB, which is scheduled on an as-needed-basis without a guaranteed number of hours; it requires a minimum number of available hours each month and offers limited benefits. Job Summary: Provides face to face translation between the Spanish and English languages for limited English proficiency (LEP) patients and staff members with limited Spanish proficiency. Minimum Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED. University Degree will satisfy requirement. Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None. Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Tested and passed interpreter proficient. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to work with others in a team approach and to follow written and oral instructions. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provide dual translations of informed consents and patient care, along with, other questions and communications between Spanish speaking patients with limited English proficiency and staff members with limited Spanish proficiency. Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established. Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
