Position Summary:
The Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) at Mayflower Health is responsible for safely and accurately administering routine medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CMA also assists with monitoring residents, reporting changes in condition, and supporting the nursing team in providing high-quality, resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and facility policies.
- Accurately document medication administration, refusals, and resident responses.
- Monitor residents for medication effectiveness and potential side effects, promptly reporting concerns to the supervising nurse.
- Maintain medication carts, supplies, and storage areas in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Assist residents with daily living activities as needed, fostering independence and dignity.
- Provide clear communication with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Support the nursing staff with resident care duties as assigned.
- Uphold confidentiality, infection control practices, and Mayflower Health’s standards of care.
Qualifications:
- Current certification and licensure as a Certified Medicine Aide (CMA) in the state of Rhode Island.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility preferred.
- Knowledge of safe medication administration and basic nursing care practices.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
