Major Projects - Cat Rental is the newest Cat Rental Dealer in North America — and we’re hiring our team. If you have extensive heavy equipment project management experience, rental project management experience, or the desire to manage exciting projects, this is the role.
We are a new Cat Rental Dealer focused exclusively on the largest construction and infrastructure projects in the US and Canada. This is a full-time position, supporting projects across North America. This means deploying hundreds of pieces of equipment across multiples states and provinces.
Position Summary
In this role, you will be required to travel to project locations as well as Cat Dealer locations. Project location and durations may vary around the United States and Canada. This role is being established to ensure a seamless rental customer experience alongside the local Cat Dealer. This will include project management, coordination for machinery movements, etc. This position will serve as a liaison between various departments internally, as well as the Customer and local Cat Dealer.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain effective internal partner relationships and relationships with customers to achieve desired objectives.
- Develops a Project Schedule in accordance with Major Projects standards and the customer’s expectations
- Coordinates meetings throughout the life of the project, including Project Kick Off, Pre-Delivery, and Post-Delivery
- Identify opportunities to use technology and insights to help the customer.
- Track project status and results; remove and alleviate project barriers.
- Prepare project reports for management and Customers.
- Must have knowledge of Caterpillar and Dealer environments.
- Utilize project management tools to ensure standard work in a variety of areas throughout the project.
- Assures that all new and used equipment is properly pre-delivered, maintained, and repaired.
- Understand client requirements, define/understand processes, and their effectiveness, efficiency, and adaptability; ability to take a systematic view of activities from a broad perspective; analyze processes; establish a vision for optimization.
- Ensures scope of work, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood by management, customer, and local Dealer.
- Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.
- Point of Contact for all communication between dealership and customer for designated area of responsibility.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience in heavy equipment project management.
- Experience with RentalMan software preferred.
- Must be willing to travel. Project sites are located domestically and internationally, so travel will be required.
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Must have advanced computer skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and develop alternative solutions and workable implementation plans.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well.
- Strong organizational and time management skills - willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Safety oriented
- Ability to function as a team player / bridge builder.
- 50% travel across North America. Overnight travel may be required. This role pursues major project opportunities wherever they are being built across the United States and Canada. The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
- Standing, walking, talking, sitting, using hands, and hearing.
- Sedentary to medium-sized work may require lifting and/or moving up to 32 pounds.
- Ability to visit active construction jobsites includes uneven terrain, elevated noise levels, and variable weather conditions.
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, and access heavy equipment as needed for customer demonstrations and site visits.
- Remote or hybrid schedule with home office as primary base.
- Frequent travel to customer offices, jobsites, dealer locations, and industry events.
- Indoor/outdoor environments; noise level ranges from moderate (office) to loud (jobsites).
