Machine Field Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Machine Field Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy construction and industrial equipment directly in the field. Your expertise will ensure that machinery operates efficiently, safely, and reliably across various job sites. Duties

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on construction machinery, industrial equipment, and farm machinery in the field
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
• Troubleshoot equipment problems efficiently to minimize downtime and ensure safety standards are met
• Repair and replace components such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical systems
• Conduct welding, fabrication, assembly, and calibration of equipment as needed for repairs or upgrades
• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators or cranes during maintenance tasks to facilitate repairs or testing
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and other specialized tools to complete repairs accurately
• Document all service work performed thoroughly in maintenance logs and communicate findings clearly to clients or team members

Experience

• Proven experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic or service technician in dealership settings or construction environments
• Strong background in construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, tractors-trailers, forklifts, and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts
• Extensive knowledge of electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, hydraulics, suspension systems, and diesel engine repair
• Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and mechanical systems of heavy equipment
• Hands-on experience with welding, fabrication techniques, and the use of power tools for repairs
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining high standards of quality workmanship
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members
