Faculty - English

WARNER UNIVERSITY
Wales, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 6/7/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 8/6/2026

Position Title: Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of English

Department: Academic Affairs > Communication Arts

Position Summary:

Warner University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time English faculty position in the Communication Arts Department for the fall 2026 semester. Responsibilities primarily include teaching Composition and developmental writing courses, though general literature courses may be taught as needed and as opportunities arise. Other responsibilities include student advising and serving on department, college, and university-wide committees. We seek candidates committed to teaching, serving, and supporting the university's mission. The candidate chosen for this position will teach primarily in the traditional, in-person classroom setting at Warner University’s campus in Lake Wales, but may also have opportunities to teach online courses.

In keeping with Warner University’s accreditation with SACSCOC and the guidelines provided in the Principles of Accreditation, the university will require the following:

  • Faculty teaching baccalaureate courses: doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline or master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
  • Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate coursework: earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Candidates should hold a minimum of a master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in English or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in teaching at the college level. The individual must have excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills. Familiarity with Moodle or a similar online learning platform is also desirable.

Warner University offers students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to develop in a Christian environment to their highest intellectual, spiritual, and professional potential. The chosen candidate must affirm and support the university’s Statement of Faith.

The successful candidate is expected to display a commitment to Christian education, especially as it addresses the relationship between faith and the study and use of the language in writing and other forms of communication. As such, preference will be given to candidates with some degree of theological education or experience in Christian education within an orthodox, evangelical context.

Procedure:

Candidates must submit all of the following:

  • a letter of interest
  • a curriculum vitae/resume
  • a faith statement that contains both a personal testimony and a thoughtful response to each paragraph of the university’s official statement of faith (https://warner.edu/the-university/who-we-are/full-statement-of-faith/)
  • copies of all transcripts (these can be unofficial copies of your transcripts at this time)
  • the names, titles, and contact information for three (3) to five (5) professional references

Applications will not be reviewed unless and until all requested materials are submitted.

Applications are being accepted and will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.

The contract will start on July 1st, 2026, with a report-on-campus date of August 10th, 2026.

Faculty rank will be contingent on qualifications and experience.
