front and back dental assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Front or Back Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. This dual-role position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with patients and the dental team, providing exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and documentation. Prior experience with electronic medical records and familiarity with various dental specialties are highly valued.

Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic techniques and infection control standards are maintained
• Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
• Manage patient check-in/check-out processes as a front desk receptionist, including scheduling appointments and updating medical records
• Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and dental terminology
• Maintain cleanliness of the clinic environment following infection control protocols
• Assist with medical imaging documentation and coding for insurance purposes
• Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality

Skills

• Proficiency in opendental
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely for both adults and pediatric patients; familiarity with 3D scanners is advantageous
• Experience in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or general dentistry preferred
• Strong communication skills suitable for interacting effectively with patients of all ages; experience as a dental receptionist is beneficial
• Skilled in chairside assisting with expertise in vital signs monitoring and medical imaging procedures
• Understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical records management
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Must be bilingual in Spanish for front position

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
