Role Description This is a full-time or part-time, on-site role for Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants at Wareham Animal Hospital in Wareham, MA. Team members support veterinarians by assisting with exams, treatments, and procedures, including handling and restraining animals, collecting samples, and maintaining accurate medical records. Daily tasks include monitoring patients, providing routine and urgent animal care, preparing exam rooms, maintaining clean and safe hospital environments, and supporting anesthetic procedures as appropriate to training and credentials. Veterinary Technicians and Assistants also communicate with clients about pet care plans, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive health, while ensuring a calm, caring experience for patients and their caregivers.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Animal Care and Pet Care, including safe handling, monitoring, and comfort of companion animals.
- Knowledge of Veterinary Technology, such as assisting with exams, treatments, diagnostic procedures, and basic laboratory tasks.
- Experience or training in Anesthesiology support, including preparing patients, monitoring vital signs, and documenting observations under veterinary supervision.
- Ability to provide clear, empathetic Client Education on preventive care, treatment plans, medications, and at-home pet management.
- Relevant certification or degree (e.g., licensed/credentialed Veterinary Technician or veterinary assistant training) preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time-management skills in a clinical setting.
- Comfort with computer-based medical records and basic office systems.
