The Engineering Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in engineering concepts with a focus on robotics, computer-aided design (CAD), problem solving, and applied technology. The teacher creates a learning environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, critical thinking, and hands-on application of engineering principles.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver daily instruction in engineering, robotics, and computer-aided design aligned with district curriculum and applicable state standards
- Develop hands-on learning experiences that promote design thinking, problem solving, creativity, and technical skill development
- Teach students the use of engineering tools, equipment, software, and design processes in a safe and structured environment
- Provide instruction in robotics systems, programming, mechanical design, and prototype development
- Teach and support student use of CAD software for technical drawing, modeling, and design applications
- Integrate project-based learning opportunities that connect engineering concepts to real-world applications
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs and interests of diverse learners
- Use a variety of assessment methods to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and progress
- Establish and maintain classroom and lab safety expectations, including proper use of materials and equipment
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and concerns
- Collaborate with colleagues, special education staff, and administration to support student success
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school improvement initiatives
- Support school-wide expectations and contribute positively to school culture
- Support student participation in robotics competitions, engineering showcases, or related extracurricular opportunities when available
- Promote career awareness in engineering, manufacturing, and technical fields
- Integrate emerging technologies and industry-relevant practices into instruction when appropriate
- Valid Massachusetts teaching license in Technology/Engineering or appropriate content area preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience with robotics platforms, engineering instruction, and CAD software preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families
